What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity and is scalable to anyone – As defined by CrossFit Inc.

Why CrossFit:

CrossFit trains you for the unknown. It is meant to be diverse. It is not just about lifting or running.  CrossFit makes you better for any sport or everyday life even if it is just climbing 5 floors of stairs without getting out of breath. It is a lifestyle focusing on fitness, nutrition and overall health. At CrossFit La Fenice, you will climb ropes, run, jump, lift weights but that’s not it you will also do many gymnastic movements like pull ups, push ups, muscle ups, box jumps and so much more. CrossFit is for everyone! CrossFitters differ by degree not kind and at CrossFit La Fenice everyone does the same movement but at a level appropriate for them.

What to expect at CrossFit La Fenice:

A class setting where a coach will guide you through a Warm Up, Strength/Skill training, Workout of the Day (WOD) followed by stretching/mobility. All CrossFit classes and all members do the same movement but at a level appropriate to them.  All workouts are scalable. Communication with the coach is key for maximum performance.

How to get started:

Join our On Ramp program today which is 4 private lessons with Head Coach Andrea who will guide you through the 9 foundational movements of CrossFit along with a month of Burn classes.

What does varied, functional, intense and scalable mean?


Constantly Varied means that our WODs are never the same so your body won’t get use to the same movements causing the ”plateau” effect. The combinations of these movements are endless therefore making “Constantly Varied” pretty easy to come by. Periodically we will repeat WODs to gauge our progress.


We perform movements seen in everyday life like squatting, jumping, running, throwing, climbing, lifting, etc.  At CrossFit La Fenice, we will teach you how to perform all of these movements, and more importantly, safely and efficiently to optimize your fitness.


Many WODs are timed and the idea is to complete the WOD as quickly and efficiently as possible while maintaining proper form and range of motion.  This style of training really increases your cardiovascular/respiratory endurance.


According to CrossFit Inc. – The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. It is scalable to anyone from the elderly to a MMA fighter or professional althete.
